Vernon specialized in the teaching of “Gifted Students” and finally took over the reins at the
Kimberley Teachers Center as acting Deputy Head and further specialized in audio-visual.
Technology and the teaching of teachers to teach gifted students.
Vernon co-pioneered the first International Conference: Education for the Gifted, at
Stellenbosch in 1984, and the first International Future Problem Solving Bowl for Gifted
Students and teachers in Cape Town in 1983 with Dr. Kobus Neethling.

CEO of Silicon Computer Corporation, specializing in PC/UNIX custom software solutions in
Travel, Education, and Government/Tourism. Managing Director of Budget Computers,
specializing in turnkey off-the-shelf software solutions for education and business.
Completed the Marketing Management first class at Damelin Management School.

Strategic consultant to Budget – Rent – A – Car in the Western Cape to implement the computer
sales systems at their Cape Town office.

1992-1995
Pioneer and Head of Galileo Southern Africa to convert all SAA/SAAFARI travel agents to the Galileo Travel GDS system. He obtained a 96% market share within 4 years.
Vernon also headed up the Galileo International Hotel Group, consisting of 7 major countries, with the focus on “Rooms and Beds – Reservations.”
Completed the Strategic Management and Marketing Wits Business School courses, incorporating International Reservation Technology.
Vernon also consulted with Amadeus Global Distribution System to implement the GDS in Africa with Risto Tumela, the CEO.
Amadeus enjoys a market share of 35% or more and is growing.

1996-2001
Vernon pioneered one of the first Oracle Internet Database Internet Reservation Engines, ISAA.com (Internet Southern Africa Accommodation), and merged this program with InterRes.co.za (The City Lodge Reservation Booking Engine).
Thereafter, Vernon and his partners formed a company called IN2.com, which evolved into a very sophisticated online travel booking system for SAS Airlines, Den Norskebank, and Hydro in Norway.
Vernon spent 4 months in Norway overseeing the global implementation of the IN2 software sale and thereafter sold his shares and focused on formulating a new company, VJ2 Web Management, which specialized in designing websites and online booking engines for hotels in Southern Africa. Vernon sold this company to Electric Fire and focused on GDS expansion in SA and Africa.
